Signs of Depression
Depression isn’t always easy to spot, but there are some common signs that you can look out for. It can feel like constant sadness or losing interest in things you usually enjoy. You could notice changes in your sleep, energy, or eating habits, and it can also be hard to focus. It’s common to feel hopeless, empty, or like you’re not yourself. If any of these symptoms sound familiar, know that reaching out to a mental health professional can really help.
Depression in children can look different from depression in adults. Here are common signs of depression in children:
- Persistent sadness, crying, or tearfulness
- Irritability or frequent angry outbursts
- Clinginess or increased need for reassurance
- Difficulty concentrating or paying attention
- Decline in school performance
- Changes in appetite (eating too much or too little)
- Complaints of physical aches and pains (headaches, stomachaches) with no clear cause
If you see these signs in a child you know, please consult a mental health professional.

Books can make you happy!
Books have been found to be able to bring joy and improve our mood. A global survey states that 71% of people who read weekly say they feel happier, compared to just 55% of those who read less often.
As shown, reading can offer a break from everyday stress and help you relax. Books can also inspire creativity and allow us to see the world in different ways. Let us brighten someone’s day by supporting and donating to our book drive!
